Why buy a Noosa Biosphere promotional video for your website?

Noosa Biosphere Reserve (2007), part of the UNESCO MAB Program; nine each, sixty second, miniature documentary website videos, with voice-over and captions, inform the public at large that Noosa is even more special than previously recognized. The videos are specifically designed for installation on websites.
Young Masters gallery was recently recognized by a member of the Noosa Biosphere Board as the first business that had seen the wisdom of acting on the potential of the Noosa Biosphere to leverage trade. This occurred at Noosa Chamber of Commerce September monthly meeting.

The UNESCO MAB (Man and Biosphere Program 1971), granted MAB status to Noosa in 2007 as a result of an Australian Government submission. Of about 17 Biosphere Reserves in Australia at this time, only 2 of them are reserves in which more than 80% of the approved area lies outside legally protected "green" zones. That means that all development, trade and lifestyle should meet guidelines for "sustainability". (This is a great opportunity for Noosa to set an example, recognizing that two-thirds of the world population will be living in cities by the year 2050). Our conservation and environmental values may be brought to the attention of the international visitor through these videos.

There is international recognition that communities that pursue principles of "sustainability" are to be admired, giving travelers a reason to make a visit to admire our achievements.

Finally, "bit-map" video is loved by the search engines driving high placement in search engine search results. This is due to the relative paucity of video data compared to the volume of the rest of data across the Internet. This means there is less competition for first page placement among video content.
(Nate Elliot, analyst for Forrester Research Inc. (NASDAQ); on Search Engine Optimization techniques says that offering a video is 50 times stronger, i.e., 50 times more more likely to move a site to the first page of search results, than adding a page of text to a website).

Mini-documentary 60 second videos with voice-over follow:

Tom Draper videos feature on-site audio, captions and voice-over recorded by him on his editing centre.

W09: One of several videos featuring general aspects of "green" zones within the greater Noosa Biosphere Reserve. Here, the Marcus Dunes section of Noosa National Park, Pomona and the Noosa River system. The Marcus Dunes section is sandwiched between Lake Weyba and the populated coastal strip. The voice-over gives clear details about UNESCO background.

Click START then immediately the PAUSE button. Wait 10-15 seconds to buffer, then click the START button again.
This is because the Internet can be so busy at times that buffering (downloading) may take longer.

W07: A video devoted entirely to the Marcus Dunes section of Noosa National Park. It features forest, heathland, native flowers and Lake Weyba. The voice-over, as with W09 is devoted entirely to more details on UNESCO background.

W08: This video is of a general nature encompassing the entire Reserve. The voice-over describes the boundaries of the old Noosa Shire and thus those of the Noosa Biosphere Reserve. Some of the content depicts parts of designated "green" zones.

W06: This is a video about the Noosa River and it's life style together with it's associated lakes system. It draws attention to our Biosphere status.

W04
: A video on Sunshine Beach, part of the "eastern beaches" area. It makes reference to Noosa Springs, includes the Girraween Section of Noosa National Park and gives directions to Sunshine beach sport complexes. It makes no mention of Noosa Biosphere, however your choice of voice-over may be accommodated.

W03: This video is compiled largely from footage shot for the well-known one hour documentary DVD I produced on the Headland Section of Noosa National Park in 2002. The new voice-over draws specific reference to the campaign waged by Doctor Arthur Harrold to save the entire headland as a "green" zone. It makes specific mention of the Biosphere. Specific reference to your enterprise, the products you produce to enhance the environment or actions you have put in place to reduce your carbon footprint may be substituted for perhaps 30 seconds of the voice-over.

W05: The Noosa region is encompassed in this general mini-documentary as requested by a resort manager. It includes mountain views, lakes, river, "green" zones and hinterland pastoral areas north of Pomona.

W02: A second video about Sunshine Beach. It draws attention to the immediate proximity of the suburb to the southern border of the Headland Section of Noosa National Park. It depicts in particular, a Sunshine Beach Surf Life Saving Club, active members club competition day. It makes no specific reference to the Biosphere, however your choice of voice-over narrated by my self, Tom Draper, may be accommodated.

W01: Another video on the Headland Section of Noosa National Park featuring primarily original vision and voice-over extracts from my 2002 one hour documentary. There is some duplication of W03 video but this can be altered to provide a little more individuality. The voice-over draws attention briefly to Doctor Arthur Harrold, the Biosphere forefather.

What kind of website video is right for you?

If you already have vector-based FLASH video: (High definition floating still images), on your website as usually associated with website banners and miscellaneous characteristics of a specific business, that's fine, however to capture genuine action in the street or natural environment, there is no substitute for bitmap based action video. (Vector based java script FLASH video incidentally, cannot be read by the search engines, so it has never done anything for page rank)! Bitmap-based video however, should show up prominently in the international search if well made.

Content of the Video

The voice-over content may be varied on request to meet individual user requirements, at minimum additional cost. The video capture content may be adjusted to give a significant degree of individuality to the website manager in currently seven general geographic areas of Tewantin, Noosaville, Noosa Sound, Hastings Street, Noosa Hill (Motel Hill), Peregian Beach Sunshine Beach and Sunrise Beach: the latter two combined as one. Inquiries welcome if any clarification is desired.

Suggestion on how to install a video

Insert a size #3 or #4 paragraph sub-heading, in the body text of the website HOME page e.g., Video of our Noosa Biosphere Reserve environment, (similar to the sub-heading directly above). It happens to be for example 16 point Georgia size #4. The heading could read for example: Noosa River and Lakes in 60 seconds. The heading should be hyper-linked to the dedicated video page, as assigned by the website designer, preferably entirely on it's own for simplicity so it pops up as a distinct island on top of the still visible HOME page; (about quarter-page size is preferred). If possible 2-speed playback should be offered to cater for slow and high speed internet connections.

Quality of video playback

The larger the file size, the higher the quality of playback and the slower the "buffering" speed. The buffering speed however may be slowed down by variations in Internet connection speed at peak periods.

The sharpness of the playback image depends on numerous factors, especially compression. The videos on this page have been saved at maximum file size. If the quality is reduced prior to installation on your website, in order to get a very small file size, say 6MB for a 60 second clip, the result may be a smeared image effect with HD video, or fuzziness with standard definition video. The buffering as a result is likely to run rapidly ahead of the video play-head most of the time, which is nice to have but not a very good trade-off.

So called "letter-boxing" has been employed in the production of all the videos displayed. This is done to assure the highest possible artistic composition and levels. This action, together with the provision of captions, adds to the file size. To go without such actions just to reduce file size is not contemplated. There is no other solution as the demands placed on some of the the camera work would make production too costly and therefore impractical.

Special example of non-linear digital video editing

The following video was captured in 1999. It depicts a brief run-down on the (then) John Trivetts's (Brisbane) BMW Polo Tournament. The event has been staged on the Logan Downs property of Ron and Judi Wanless, annually, for the last twenty years, since the foundation of the Brisbane Polo Club. (Tom's earliest work).

About the Videographer

Thomas T. Draper is a qualified Production Engineer. The field led to wide experience in production management in private industry, detailed design, quality control, specification writing, foreign language translation and effective writing as in government prose, product marketing literature and sales management. Photographic experience came out of many years of involvement from a very young age, especially with The Sydney University Speleological Society and later with the Sydney Speleological Society where he was a trip leader for many years. He is also an Honorary Ranger and Fire Warden in the State of New South Wales. Tom also produced a documentary DVD on the Headland Section of Noosa National Park which went on the market in 2002. It still sells at the Ginger Factory Yandina and Noosa ABC Shop. No cash contributions have ever been been received from external sources to assist in the production of environmental videos.
